According to 2025 U.S. Census Bureau data, North Carolina attracted more domestic migrants than any other state, gaining approximately 84,100 residents from other parts of the country between July 2024 and July 2025.

California lost approximately 229,100 residents, while New York lost nearly 137,600 to other states between July 2024 and July 2025.
